Manufacturing Manager
📍 Redditch | £50,000 – £65,000 (DOE)
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Manufacturing Manager to lead operations within a complex and high-performing aerospace manufacturing environment. This pivotal role offers full accountability for delivering operational excellence across a dedicated value stream, ensuring the achievement of key Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP) targets.
Our client are looking for a strategic, driven leader with strong engineering and quality understanding, capable of developing and inspiring teams, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing operational performance through strong leadership and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental procedures are adhered to, including valid risk assessments and area-specific safety protocols.
- Lead, coach and motivate first-line managers, team leaders, and production teams to maintain a high-performance culture.
- Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures, with a strong focus on compliance, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and own the operational strategy aligned to wider business and SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) objectives.
- Propose and manage capital investment (CapEx) to meet production capacity and drive efficiency gains.
- Oversee production to meet output, quality, and delivery targets; focus on efficiency improvements and multiskilling to enhance flexibility.
- Manage a highly complex primary operations environment, including hot metal forging, heat treatment, and related aerospace manufacturing processes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by resolving quality issues using robust root cause analysis (e.g., 8D), and implementing effective long-term solutions.
- Drive SQCDP performance by managing resources effectively and improving productivity while operating within budget constraints.
- Lead productivity, quality, and service performance initiatives across the site.
- Develop and deliver structured training programs to enhance team capability, speed up learning curves, and maintain consistency.
- Foster interdepartmental collaboration to support shared business objectives.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in heavy manufacturing; experience in aerospace or similarly regulated sectors is highly desirable.
- Background in managing production teams or operational sections, with a hands-on leadership style.
- Strong working knowledge of Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Confident communicator across all levels with excellent interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems proactively with a collaborative mindset.
- Experience in setting and achieving KPIs in high-pressure environments.
- Committed to fostering a culture of quality, safety, and performance.
This position is based in Redditch, conveniently commutable from Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Alcester, Studley, South Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Kidderminster, and Stourbridge.
