Shift Engineer - Manufacturing Site
Join our client’s team as a Shift Engineer and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the site. This role involves planned preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Hours of work will be on day shifts working 7am-7pm (Averaging 42 hrs per week, including every other weekend). Salary circa £35,000 - £39,000 per annum DOE.
As Shift Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Perform routine planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and transition from reactive to proactive maintenance.
- Implement and uphold health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean, organised engineering workspace to enhance site safety.
- Quickly resolve equipment breakdowns and ensure they are properly recorded for trend analysis.
- Use problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronics/PLC issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members to maintain clear and consistent information flow.
- Complete projects and development work as needed.
To be successful in the position of Shift Engineer, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- ONC/HNC engineering qualification (Or equivalent).
- Detailed knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding is essential.
- ILM Level 3-5 would be highly advantageous.
- Mechanical bias but with some electrical experience.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours if required.
This position is based in Halesowen and is easily commutable from Hagley, Stourbridge, Dudley, Edgbaston, Cradley Heath, Alvechurch, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Wednesbury, and Birmingham.
